Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan’s brother was arrested and charged with battery following the sudden death of their father early yesterday morning. Mark Kerrigan, who had been staying at his parents’ Boston home, allegedly struggled with 70-year-old Daniel before his father collapsed. Father and son were arguing over the use of a telephone and pushing “back and forth,” according to the police report.

Mark had his “hands around his father’s neck,” and apparently thought his father was “faking it” when he fell, continues the report. Police found Daniel in the basement, and blood on the kitchen floor. Mark, who appeared intoxicated, had to be restrained with pepper spray, reports the Boston Herald, who was told by Brenda Kerrigan that her husband died of a massive heart attack.
