Chicago Terror Suspect Charged in Mumbai Attacks

A Chicago man already in custody for allegedly planning a terrorist strike against a Danish newspaper, has been charged with helping to plan the Mumbai attacks. According to prosecutors, David Headley was a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, the group suspected in the attack, and attended a terrorist training camp and scouted locations for the Mumbai attackers. He’s currently cooperating with investigators.

Twelve counts were released against Headley today, with six related to the Mumbai attacks. Authorities suspect his co-defendant in the newspaper case, Tahawwur Hussain Rana, paid for Headley’s trips to India, but he hasn’t been charged so far. (More Mumbai stories.)
