In the latest event in the season of teen violence, two Maryland girls have been busted after their videotaped beating of a student was posted on Facebook. On the tape, the two teens tackle the leader of a pom squad at a Silver Spring football game and kick and punch her on the ground, reports the Washington Post. Facebook visitors responded "LOL" and "hahaha" to the beating, apparently triggered over a boy.
The two girls, 16 and 17, have been charged with second-degree assault. The pom leader was not seriously injured. "It's this horrible vision in my head," said her mom, who viewed the attack on Facebook. "Where were the people who could have helped her?" Honor student Derrion Albert, 16, was beaten to death outside a Chicago high school last week as a student filmed the attack.
