Gators stifle Vols; Va. Tech edges out Nebraska

The Washington Huskies stunned No. 3 USC today 16-13, winning with a 22-yard field goal with 3 seconds left, the Seattle Times reports. In other action:

  • Vols coach Lane Kiffin may watch his mouth from now on. The No.1 Florida Gators beat Tennessee 23-13 with tight defense and 76 yards rushing by quarterback Tim Tebow, ESPN reports.

  • No. 13 Virginia Tech rallied with a late drive to top No. 19 Nebraska, 16-15. An 81-yard pass by Hokies quarterback Tyrod Taylor brought Virginia Tech to the Cornhuskers' 3-yard line.
  • No. 8 California was tied with Minnesota going into the fourth quarter, but pulled ahead to win 35-21. Golden Bears running back Jahvid Best galloped for 131 yards and 5 touchdowns.
  • Notre Dame eked out a 33-30 victory over Michigan State with a last-minute interception by Kyle McCarthy.
