Joe Wilson’s own wife couldn’t believe he’d be crass enough to shout at the president, she declared in what is supposed to be a positive ad for Wilson’s re-election campaign. “I said, ‘Joe, who’s the nut that hollered out, ‘You lie?’” Roxanne Wilson recalls in the ad. “And he goes ‘It was me.’ I couldn’t believe he would say that.”

Wilson blamed the outburst on the intensity of the town hall meetings her husband attended. The video then shows a flattering headshot of President Obama, as Wilson says that he’s been “very gracious with my husband in accepting his apology,” but that he “doesn’t deserve the treatment he’s been getting from Congress.” The House may vote today to censure Wilson.
