Police suspect a Yale lab technician in the killing of student Annie Le, rather than another student, as had previously been reported, the New Haven Independent reports. Police were investigating the employee, who works with animal testing, even before they found Le’s body, curious about the scratch marks on his chest. According to one source, the technician harbored unrequited love for Le.

So far the technician hasn’t been charged or taken into custody; his campus phone number has been disconnected. Police denied that suspicion had ever hovered over a student, or even that another student was “involved” in the case. Police have interviewed and re-interviewed roughly 100 people, but wouldn’t identify them. “We don’t want to destroy people’s reputations,” said the chief. Le's autopsy results will be released at 3pm, reports the AP.
