Kudos to Carrie Bradshaw for seeking sex in the city, because marriage in the city apparently stinks, Annie Karni writes in the New York Post. Author Amy Sohn’s dark new tome about marriage and motherhood, Prospect Park West, is garnering praise as the next Sex and the City, following the story of four thirtysomething Brooklynites who bitterly try not to hate motherhood. HBO and Sarah Jessica Parker have already snapped up the rights.

There's no bonding over martinis for these gals, all trapped in loveless marriages. They prefer to seduce each other's husbands, resent their own children, and resort to blackmail and theft. “The one thing that ties them together is a hatred of domesticity and motherhood,” Karni writes. “It makes you think that Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte made the right choice by staying single, childless, and in Manhattan for as long as possible.”
