Slumdog Kid Gets New Home

Azharuddin Ismail, the child actor who played the main character’s brother in Slumdog Millionaire, moved into a new home in an upmarket Mumbai suburb today, the BBC reports. A trust set up by the film’s producers paid for the house and is hunting for a similar abode for co-star Rubina Ali. Both were forced to leave illegal homes in the city’s slums.

“I like it here, it is really nice,” said 9-year-old Azharuddin. “But I will miss my old friends back in Bandra. Maybe I will go and visit them once in a while.” His mother was less reserved. “We have lived on the road for so many years,” she said. “I had never dreamed that we would have a roof over our heads.”
