Nicole Richie was in and out of the jailhouse yesterday in less time than it takes to get her highlights done. The pregnant socialite was sentenced to four days after she pleaded no contest to a DUI rap, but spent just 82 minutes being processed, providing fingerprints and posing for a mug shot. She never made it to her cell, AP reports.
Under a court order requiring prisons to reduce overcrowding, nonviolent female offenders sentenced to less than 30 days are typically locked up for less than 12 hours, according to a statement by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Richie was arrested in December for driving the wrong way on a freeway and admitted to being high on pot and the painkiller Vicodin. (More Nicole Richie stories.)
