Singing cowboy Roy Rogers and his horse, Trigger, will be the inspiration for a new trilogy of Westerns, Variety reports. Roy Rogers Jr., who controls the late movie star's estate, struck a deal with a Nashville-based production company that says it will reinvent the '40s and '50s big-screen favorite as "a family fantasy adventure" for a new generation—an effort that includes a TV cartoon and interactive games.

The trilogy will "not be a biopic, and will not be a traditional Western, but rather a family fantasy adventure," said the head of 821 Entertainment. "Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and Trigger are quintessential figures of America, and we will introduce this franchise to a new audience while capitalizing on the millions of Roy Rogers fans worldwide."
