An explosive new book probing deep into A-Rod's career suggests the slugger has failed to fully come clean about his steroid use, the New York Daily News reports. Rodriguez insists he only used steroids as a Texas Ranger, but the book quotes sources who believe he was juicing both as a high school player and after coming to New York.

A-Rod: The Many Lives of Alex Rodriguez, from Sports Illustrated writer Selena Roberts, also chronicles the player's colorful life off the field. She paints a deeply unflattering portrait of Rodriguez as a needy egomaniac who sometimes tipped off opponents to what pitch was coming in the hopes they would return the favor to help him boost his batting average. He was also hated at Hooters for his stingy tips.
