It was only a matter of time before Rosie O’Donnell commented on Miss California’s gay marriage drama, but the comic wasn’t too harsh. Carrie Prejean’s comment “made me laugh,” O’Donnell told the New York Daily News. “She said, ‘In America, you have the choice between same sex marriage and opposite sex marriage,’ like it was a flavor at Baskin-Robbins. You can have rocky road or mint chocolate chip.”

Prejean has at least one celebrity in a same-sex union on her side. Cynthia Nixon said, “Maybe some of the things she said were a little awkward, but I think she expressed a feeling that a lot of people have. I feel badly for beauty contestants who are put on the spot like that!” (More Rosie O'Donnell stories.)
