Students hid in storage closets when the shooting began at an immigration services center in Binghamton yesterday, a survivor tells CNN. "I heard shootings, very long time, about five minutes, and I was thinking when it will be stopped, but it was continued," she said. "No screaming, yelling," she said. "Just silence, shooting, silence, shooting, silence."

"I thought my life was finished" said the woman, who hid with her teacher and 15 other students as the gunman—identified as Jiverly Voong—killed 13 people and then himself. Others took cover in the center's furnace room, holding the door shut and communicating with police for three hours until they were led to safety. (More Binghamton, NY stories.)
