A hammer-wielding woman was arrested after sneaking into the London hospital room of dying reality-TV star Jade Goody yesterday, the Mail reports. Goody, whose husband had stepped out momentarily, awoke to the intruder “chanting and praying” over her. “Jade was very, very frightened and she screamed,” her publicist said. Goody had more welcome contact when Michael Jackson phoned to offer his support, the Sun adds.

Jackson’s interest in Goody mirrors her overwhelming popularity, and both her publicist and a Hollywood insider tell the Telegraph that a movie about her life is likely. “The interest in Jade, not just in America but around the world, is rising every day,” her publicist said. “When a story becomes this big, the more chance there is about something like [a film] happening.” (Read more Jade Goody stories.)
