Experts are criticizing Rihanna's decision to reconcile with boyfriend Chris Brown following a violent confrontation that left the singer swollen and bruised, reports the New York Daily News. Domestic violence experts aren't shocked by Rihanna's move—which is all too common among battered women, they say—but are worried about the singer and the harmful message she's communicating.

"It sends a really negative message that it's OK to remain in an abusive relationship and just to accept an apology and move on," said a Manhattan psychologist. "She's a role model and that's why it's such a concern."
