Research in Motion’s newest BlackBerry, the Curve 8900, is "a satisfying combination of high-end features, ideal size, and good looks," writes Katherine Boehret for the Wall Street Journal. Unlike the high-profile Storm, the new smartphone has a real keyboard that's "a dream for thumbs," she raves. Overall, the Curve 8900 fits into “the Goldilocks category of not too big, not too small—just right.”

The T-Mobile gadget hits the street in February and costs $200, after a $100 rebate, with a 2-year contract. One drawback is memory; you'll need a microSD card to add room for those photos you’re going to take with the 3.2-megapixel auto-focus camera. Battery life is solid, and, almost incidentally, call quality is good on both ends. (More Research In Motion stories.)
