Gov. Rips 'Nasty' Caroline

New York State Gov. David Paterson complained that Caroline Kennedy turned "nasty" as he was about to pick a replacement for Hillary Clinton's Senate seat, the New York Post reveals. Patterson, who chose Kirsten Gillibrand on Friday, grumbled to friends at a party that Kennedy "disrespected" him with the way she pulled out of the running, and didn't return phone calls from him for hours.

Publicly, Paterson wished Kennedy well after she pulled her name from consideration last week and disavowed reports that he never seriously considered her because of politically problematic personal issues. "He was absolutely frustrated that he couldn't reach" Kennedy after she expressed second thoughts to him about the job, said a party guest.
