With their children grown and gone, couples find their love lives more satisfying, new research reveals. Some of the 123 women in a long-term study switched partners and some remarried, but regardless, they were happier in their relationships after the child-rearing was complete. Marriages generally improve with time, and the transition of children leaving boosts satisfaction to an even greater degree, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

"At first, it is very quiet, but there is a lot of good in the lack of noise," said a 55-year-old mother of three. "We got good at having conversations. Our time is about us."
