It's not only Britney Spears who needs to worry about her sex tapes going online, Details reports. Spurned loverboys outside Tinseltown are getting back at exes by posting so-called "revenge porn" on the Internet. And they are running afoul of the law. "These were just made-up crimes from Bible Belt tight-asses," said one who was arrested for handing out a private sex video. "It was just a practical joke."
No laws yet exist to prosecute revenge porn, so courts are relying on charges like distribution of obscene material and defamation. But there is another defense: "Never, ever create sexual photos, videos, emails, text messages, or anything else," one privacy advocate said. "You have to think of revenge porn almost like an STD: something that can only happen because of mixing sex with irresponsibility." (More sex tape stories.)
