Another chapter in the growing novel of airline passengers behaving badly: An Indian-American wedding photographer posted video of a currently unidentified woman hurling racial abuse at him and his family after a United Airlines flight from Cancun to Los Angeles, reports the Independent. What went down:

  • On the flight: Pervez Taufiq was traveling with his wife and three sons; one son was seated next to the woman in question. As the New York Post reports, Taufiq went to check on his son "She was making comments to him on the flight. She was saying, 'Are you Indian?' He's 11, so he was like, 'Yeah, I'm Indian.' And she's like, 'Are you from New Delhi?' And he said, 'No, my family's from Bombay,' and so that's where this whole thing kicked off," Taufiq says. Taufiq grew up in Boston.

  • On the ground: The passengers boarded a shuttle bus, at which point Taufiq says the woman told his 4-year-old to "shut up" as he was talking about the plane. "I think I went into fight-or-flight a little bit, I said, 'Don't you ever f---ing talk to my son that way," Taufiq says. "And that's when her husband got up and literally got into my face, as if he's going to hit me."
  • Things went downhill: Taufiq began recording a video he posted to Instagram, as the woman told him "Your family is from India, you have no respect, you have no rules, you think you can push everyone, push, push, push. That's what you think you are. You guys are f---ing crazy." KTLA has video here, or Taufiq's Instagram post is here.
  • Things went further downhill: The woman got her middle fingers and her phone out and told Taufiq "I'm going to record your f---ing tandoori a--." There's more, in which Taufiq and the woman each accuse each other of being racist, per the Post, but United employees ultimately took her off the shuttle.
  • Fallout: The Nov. 24 video went viral, and while the woman hasn't been identified, Taufiq says "It's been refreshing to see how many people have reached out and just made sure we're OK."
