Nearing her 50th birthday, Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell is facing the fact that even with Botox, men no longer flock to her at parties, the Times of London reports. “Somewhere in your forties…everyone starts to look the same! Middle-aged. Now when I look in the mirror I see the old lady underneath,” she said.
But Bushnell is comfortable in her new life. She's married, and says a lot of the homemaking that inspires her now would have been a bore at 25 or 35. “Life gets boring when you're middle-aged,” says a character in her new novel, One Fifth Avenue. “You can't keep doing the same thing. You look like an asshole.” (More Candace Bushnell stories.)
