Trump: I'm 'Invigorated' by Easy Win

Former President Trump says he feels "invigorated" by his resounding victory in the Iowa caucuses. Trump spoke to Fox News Digital soon after outlets called it in his favor on Monday night. "It really is an honor that, minutes after, they've announced I've won—against very credible competition—great competition, actually," Trump said. "I feel really invigorated and strong for our country." With 93% of results in, Trump led Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley (who were neck and neck) by about 30 percentage points, putting him on track to win by a record margin. "It is a tremendous thing and a tremendous feeling," he told Fox, referring to how quickly the race was called. The DeSantis campaign, however, pointed out that the call came before some caucus-goers had even voted, and it accused the media of "election interference."

Later Monday, Trump spoke to reporters in Iowa, Yahoo News reports. "I really think this is time now for everybody, our country, to come together, whether it's Republican or Democrat or liberal or conservative, it would be so nice if we could come together and straighten out the world and straighten out all of the problems and the death and destruction that we're witnessing that's practically never been like this," the former president said. He also congratulated DeSantis and Haley, saying "they both actually did very well" and noting the close contest for second place. He later promised that, if elected president, he would overhaul the nation's elections to do away with early voting and mail-in ballots and require paper ballots and voter identification at all polling places. He repeated his false claim that election fraud cost him the last presidential election. This story has been updated with Trump's remarks to supporters and other details.
