NBC Cancels $1M Deal With Ex-Con Heiress
Paris Hilton sits in the audience during the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles, Sunday, June 3, 2007. Hilton is feeling thankful. The 26-year-old heiress, who is set to be released from jail soon, told Ryan Seacrest of E! News that her "gratitude has gone up so much" since she's been behind bars.(AP...   (Associated Press)

Paris Hilton got jilted by NBC yesterday, the New York Post reports. The peacock network reneged on its reported $1-million offer for her first apres-jail interview after executives got cold feet. Then they decided they didn't even want the "Today" show interview for free. And none of the other networks would touch the heiress on the rebound.

Barbara Walters rejected her pleas  from a prison pay phone to pick up the interview, the Post said. Mom Kathy Hilton made the first call to Walters at home, the tab reported. Then Paris herself got on the horn, apologizing to Walters for having rejected her in the first round. But Walters was unmoved. An NBC source summed up:  "We're so grossed out by the whole thing."
