UPDATE Feb 3, 2023 10:43 AM CST

Dallas police have a suspect they believe is their man at least in the disappearance of the emperor tamarin monkeys from the Dallas Zoo. Acting on a tip, police spotted 24-year-old Davion Irvin at the Dallas Aquarium, reports KERA News, when he then boarded a DART train. He was later spotted downtown, and taken in; he faces six charges of cruelty to animals in the monkeys case. The Star-Telegram reports that Irvin is under investigation in connection with other incidents at the zoo, including a dead vulture and a clouded leopard that escaped her enclosure. WFAA reports that Irvin was spotted near animal exhibits at the Dallas Aquarium, and appeared to be examining mesh enclosures. The daughter of the pastor of the abandoned church where the monkeys were found tells WFAA that Irvin attended services there.

As authorities continue to investigate what in the world is going on at the Dallas Zoo, the zoo is now offering a $25,000 reward for information that helps to answer that question. That's up from $10,000, ABC News reports. The two emperor tamarin monkeys who recently went missing after their enclosure was "intentionally compromised" were found unharmed, but in one of a few other previous strange incidents, a vulture died under "unusual" circumstances. A leopard also escaped after her enclosure was intentionally cut, and a fence was cut inside a langur monkey habitat, but no monkeys escaped that time. No arrests have been made, but police have released a photo of a man they want to talk to about the emperor tamarin monkeys' disappearance, Fox News reports.
