The owner of a celebrity hangout and his young son have died in a horrific, fiery crash in California that is being blamed on a suspected drunk driver. Kevin Gonzales, 21, is facing charges of double murder after police say he slammed his vehicle into a classic Ford Mustang carrying Andrea Bullo, 60, owner of the beachfront Moonshadows Malibu restaurant, and his 13-year-old son Marco around 9pm Tuesday in Los Angeles' Woodland Hills neighborhood. Bullo and his son were killed. A witness in another vehicle reported seeing a "big explosion" before coming upon the accident scene, where the Mustang was engulfed in flames, per KTTV. Another witness said what she saw was so horrific that she would seek counseling, per Fox News.

Gonzales' Toyota Camry also caught on fire, but the driver emerged with only minor injuries, per KTLA. Video shows an officer overseeing a field sobriety test at the scene, per Fox. Results from that test have not been made public. However, authorities say Gonzales was speeding eastbound on Mulholland Drive when he rear-ended the Mustang. Taken from the scene in an ambulance, Gonzales was booked into jail at 7am Wednesday and is being held on $4 million bail. Meanwhile, Moonshadows' staff are reeling. "We are grieving right now as individuals and as a whole family," a staffer tells the Los Angeles Times.

"Everybody's been to Moonshadows" and "Andrea was the spirit of Moonshadows," adds a tearful local who left flowers at the restaurant on Thursday. Born in Venice, Italy, Bullo came to the US with a background in luxury hospitality and dining and worked as general manager of a Beverly Hills restaurant before opening Moonshadows in 2001. Named on Yelp's Top 100 US Restaurants list for 2022, the restaurant and bar with sweeping views of the ocean has welcomed celebrities including Charlize Theron and Kim Kardashian. (According to Fox, Mel Gibson was heading home from Moonshadows when he was arrested for DUI in 2006.)
