Comedian Redd Speaks Out After NYC Attack

Chris Redd is doing all right after an attack outside a New York City comedy club earlier this week that sent him to the hospital. "I've been resting up like crazy but I want to say thank you thank you thank you for all the messages of love, the jokes, and the concern," the 37-year-old comedian and former Saturday Night Live actor wrote in an Instagram story on Sunday, per ET Online. "I'm okay and healing fast!!" He also took the time to clear up at least one misconception about what had happened Wednesday outside the Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village.

"NOBODY SNATCHED MY CHAIN BRO!!! Y'ALL WILL JUST WRITE ANYTHING," he noted of the rumor that he'd had jewelry stolen during the attack. TMZ has photos of the aftermath, which show a beaming Redd with two black eyes and what looks to be a stitched-up nose. That outlet reports that Redd was punched in the face with brass knuckles during the assault. The NYPD tells ET that the attack on Redd occurred "without prior conversation or provocation." Police note that the suspect is believed to be between 35 and 40 years old, standing about 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 280 pounds or so, reports the New York Post, which also shares surveillance footage.

In addition to the comedian missing his Wednesday night performance at the Comedy Cellar, he also had to cancel Thursday's there, as well as Sunday's show at City Winery, per Deadline, which notes the next show posted on Redd's website is set for Nov. 11 in Tacoma, Wash. "For any shows I missed, I'll be putting back on the schedule so if you bought tickets SIT TIGHT AND I GOT YOU," Redd wrote on his Insta story, per ET.
