Two employees at Methodist Dallas Medical Center were killed in a Saturday morning shooting, and police have identified the suspect as a 30-year-old who was on parole and wearing an active ankle monitor at the time. Nestor Hernandez faces capital murder charges; he was shot and injured by a Methodist officer who responded to the 11am shooting and has been hospitalized elsewhere, reports the Dallas Morning News. NBC News reports the victims haven't been identified, nor have their positions at the hospital been given; it's also unclear whether the suspect knew them, or what the motivation for the shooting was.
"The Methodist Health System Family is heartbroken at the loss of two of our beloved team members. Our entire organization is grieving this unimaginable tragedy,” the hospital system's leaders said in a statement. "Our prayers are with our lost co-workers and their families, as well as our entire Methodist family. We appreciate the community’s support during this difficult time." The AP reports a September hospital shooting in Little Rock, Arkansas, killed a visitor, while one in June in Tulsa, Oklahoma, left four dead. (Cops described the Tulsa shooter as a disgruntled patient.)
