Gallup put the names of 11 federal officials in front of Americans in a new survey, and only three registered positive ratings from the majority of respondents. The clear No. 1 was Supreme Court Justice John Roberts (60%), followed by Fed chief Jerome Powell (53%) and Dr. Anthony Fauci (52%). Roberts was the only one of the 11 to be viewed favorably by a majority of Republicans (57%), Democrats (55%), and independents (64%). At the bottom of the pack, easily, was Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, who managed an overall approval rating of just 34% and is the only one of the 11 to register below 50% among those same three political categories. President Biden was two notches above him at 43%. The rankings:

  1. John Roberts, 60% approval, 34% disapproval
  2. Jerome Powell, 53%-40%
  3. Anthony Fauci, 52%-47%
  4. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, 49%-43%
  5. Attorney General Merrick Garland, 49%-43%
  6. House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, 46%-49%
  7. VP Kamala Harris, 44%-54%
  8. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, 44%-53%
  9. President Biden, 43%-51%
  10. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 40%-58%
  11. Mitch McConnell, 34%-63%
