Monday brings no reports of a medical rebound for rapper DMX. Instead, the family of the 50-year-old rapper is asking for prayers, reports People. DMX remains in what his former manager tells BuzzFeed is a "vegetative state" in White Plains Hospital after going into cardiac arrest on Friday night. Nakia Walker adds that he has "lung and brain failure and no brain activity." He is indeed facing "serious health issues," says a family statement, per Fox News. "We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges."

TMZ has reported that a drug overdose triggered the heart attack, though DMX's reps have not confirmed that. The former star of the Ruff Ryders label, whose real name is Earl Simmons, has battled addiction for years, and he checked into rehab as recently as 2019. A prayer vigil will be conducted outside the hospital on Monday. In the meantime, celebrities including Viola Davis, Chance the Rapper, and Ja Rule were tweeting their wishes for a recovery. (DMX's attorney says the rapper is like a son to him.)
