Even if this were a normal year when April Fools' jokes were in style, this one surely would have missed the mark. A 58-year-old woman in Wichita ended up arrested after calling her daughter to say she'd been shot, reports KSN. Her understandably freaked-out daughter called police. "Multiple police units, probably between 15 to 20 officers from the Wichita Police Department as well as fire department and EMS responded to the scene," police Lt. Ronald Hunt tells the Wichita Eagle.

When nobody answered the door, officers busted it down with guns drawn. As it turns out, nobody was home. Mom Arnthia Willis was actually at work, safe and sound. "Through further investigation, we learned that this was an April Fools' joke played on the daughter by the mother," says Hunt. Willis has been charged with unlawful request for emergency service assistance. (Google again opted out of the day's usual pranks.)
