The mother of two missing children in a convoluted case out of Idaho will return to that state to face charges. In what East Idaho News describes as a surprise move, an attorney for Lori Vallow told a judge in Hawaii Wednesday that she will not fight her extradition. The judge declined to reduce her bail from $5 million at the same hearing. Two of Vallow's children, Tylee Ryan, 17, and Joshua "JJ" Vallow, 7, have not been seen since September. Vallow currently faces charges including felony counts of desert and nonsupport of children, per CNN. Vallow waived extradition to "expedite her return there, so she can defend herself against these false accusations," said attorney Craig De Costa in court.

Vallow, who was identified in court as Lori Daybell, the last name of her new husband, generally gave one-word answers at the hearing, notes NBC News. (Her husband also is under suspicion.) She is expected to be sent back to Idaho next week. Her defense team tried to convince the judge that she was not a flight risk and deserved to have her bail reduced, but prosecutors countered that "she has resided in numerous states in recent years and is in open defiance to court orders." After the judge declined to reduce bail, Vallow's attorney announced she was waiving extradition and preferred to return to Idaho. (When the snow melts, a search for Tylee may take place in Yellowstone National Park.)
