2 Non-Candidates Get Big Ovations at Debate

Two people not running for president got plenty of applause during the Democratic debate Friday night.

• Vindman: Joe Biden at one point urged the crowd to stand in support of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman of the National Security Council, who testified in the House impeachment inquiry, reports Newsweek. Vindman was fired earlier Friday. "And by the way, Col. Vindman got thrown out of the White House," said Biden. Trump "should be pinning a medal on Vindman and not on Rush Limbaugh,” he added. "I think we should all stand and get Col. Vindman a show of how much we supported him. Stand up and clap for Vindman." The audience did. (Watch it here.)
• Romney: In discussing her role as a senator-juror in the impeachment trial, Sen. Amy Klobuchar made a point to praise the "courage" shown by Republican Sen. Mitt Romney for his "very, very difficult vote" to convict, per Fox News. The mention of Romney's name drew a rousing ovation.
