Selena Gomez is ready to pull back the veil on Hollywood dating, which she knows all too well. "If I can be honest, it is so cliché," the 27-year-old tells Zane Lowe on Apple Music's Beats 1, per Fox News. "It's just everyone dates everyone. It always seems to be within this little bubble—and it's because it's safe." The actress-singer, whose past BFs include Justin Bieber and The Weeknd, goes on to say that "you're wanting someone to understand what you're going through, you're almost wanting a counterpart of creativity as well, and it's interesting and fun. But the problem with that is that you end up, whether you admit it or not, you're having a relationship for [other] people and not even for yourself."

"There's almost this point where it’s like, 'Oh, we're making it known that we're together.' Or whatever it is. It's like, you just need to decide within our world if it’s for you or is it for show." With her new album Rare out, she also talks about being honest and open in her songs: "It wasn't in a vindictive way, it was simply like, okay, I actually have my part to say. People will ultimately know where the inspiration came from," she says, per Cosmopolitan. "But then it kind of ends there." Another Cosmo piece suggests her on-and-off decade with Bieber might have inspired the title song, which includes: "Saw us getting older / Burning toast in the toaster / My ambitions were too high / Waiting up for you upstairs / Why you act like I'm not there?" (Bieber, who's now married, has some health problems.)
