The Daily Mail secured an exclusive interview last week with "self-confessed sex god" Meat Loaf, and the 72-year-old performer once known as Marvin Lee Aday went after another big name: Greta Thunberg. Speaking of his skepticism on climate change, the singer said, "I feel for that Greta. She has been brainwashed into thinking that there is climate change and there isn't." He added: "She hasn't done anything wrong, but she's been forced into thinking that what she is saying is true." The 17-year-old Swedish activist responded to his remarks Monday on Twitter, in what Mashable calls "the classiest way possible." "It's not about Meatloaf," she tweeted. "It's not about me. It's not about what some people call me. It's not about left or right. It's all about scientific facts."
The teen added that "unless we start to focus everything on this" and decrease the pace of global warming, "our targets will soon be out of reach." Forbes also notes that perhaps Meat Loaf may not be the most qualified person to address the issue: "Mr. Loaf is not Dr. Loaf, and he is not a scientist. He is best known for singing the song 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light.' This song has nothing to do with the climate crisis except for perhaps the 'praying for the end of time' lyrics. ... Meat Loaf, the celebrity, discussing climate science may be bit like a scientist singing 'will you love me forever' in a karaoke bar." (It was not Greta Thunberg who recently spoke to Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters, to Waters' chagrin.)
