Some have called him "toxic" and "evil"; others have hailed him as an American hero. If you're on the latter side, you'll probably be excited to read that retired Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher is out with his very own lifestyle brand. Gallagher was charged with war crimes for allegations ranging from posing with corpses to shooting unarmed civilians to murdering a captive; a military jury ultimately acquitted him of most of the charges, including murder, but convicted him of posing with a corpse. He was demoted, but Trump later reversed that; then the Navy tried to dump him and the president stopped that from happening and ensured Gallagher was allowed to retire as a SEAL, which he did at the end of last year. Now comes "Salty Frog Gear," a line including branded drinkware and T-shirts with slogans like "Stay Salty" and "Unleash the Tempest."

As Business Insider notes, Gallagher, who's now a popular conservative figure and frequent guest on Fox News, has previously designed and collaborated on other clothing (like "Free Eddie" shirts) and promoted products on Instagram. And the New York Times reports Salty Frog Gear isn't the only way he's "capitalizing" on his popularity; he's also endorsing nutrition supplements and coffee, appearing at conservative events, and meeting with the president at Mar-a-Lago. "He was acquitted of murder, but the photo charge has remained, leaving Gallagher with a reduced rank, a criminal record, and a huge chunk missing from his lifetime pension as a result," reads a statement from Nine Line Apparel, the clothing company collaborating with Gallagher on SFG. The brand's launch has led to headlines from left-leaning news outlets such as this one bemoaning "the rise of American fascism." (More Edward Gallagher stories.)
