For Sale: Stadium Seating, Lightly Used

If Chicago wins its bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games, it might follow more closely in London 2012's footsteps than expected. The cities have begun discussing the possible sale of large parts of London's new stadium to Chicago, the Guardian reports. The deal could result in 55,000 seats crossing the Atlantic for reuse in a new Windy City arena.

Chicago could then pass the spare seating (and significant savings) on to the next host city. "If we could box it up and ship it to the next games, that's something that could benefit the Olympic movement," says a city sports director. The London stadium will also have 25,000 permanent seats, for a total capacity of 80,000.
