"He's on his way" can sound ominous without context, but for millions of kids around the world on Christmas Eve, those words are gold. CNN reports that the North American Aerospace Defense Command's Santa Tracker is officially up and running, keeping tabs on where jolly old St. Nick is in the skies since he departed the North Pole around 4am ET. NORAD notes he's already made some early stops in the eastern portion of Russia and Asia, and as of 8am, had delivered 642,000,000 gifts. "In addition to our day-to-day mission of defending North America, we are proud to carry on the tradition of tracking Santa as he travels along his Yuletide flight path," Gen. Terrence O'Shaughnessy, commander of NORAD, says in a release. Those who can't follow the tracker online can call 1-877-HI-NORAD (1-877-446-6723).
