You can't always get a free checked bag on a domestic flight, but increasingly you can get a complimentary scorpion sting: A woman on a San Francisco to Atlanta flight went to the plane's bathroom after feeling a "stinging sensation" on her leg, when out dropped a scorpion and "scurried across the floor," reports SFGate. A flight attendant was able to snag the critter.

"After learning that one of our customers on flight 1554 from San Francisco to Atlanta was stung during flight, our crew responded immediately and consulted with a MedLink physician on the ground who provided medical guidance," a United rep said. "The customer was transported to a local hospital. We have been in contact with our customer to ensure her well-being." (More scorpion stories.)
