Faux Fur Wearer Stabbed. This Isn't Suspect's First Charge

An Ohio woman charged with attempted murder in a stabbing prompted by the victim wearing what appeared to be fur boots was accused of planning similar crimes in 2012. Police say Meredith Lowell, 35, stabbed a woman at a church in Cleveland Heights on Wednesday. The victim had just brought children she was babysitting to the church for choir practice, WJW reports, when police say Lowell approached her, stabbing her in the arm and abdomen. The victim, who was wearing faux fur boots, was hospitalized with injuries that weren't life-threatening. A bystander held Lowell until police arrived.

In 2012, Lowell was charged with trying to hire hitmen to kill people wearing fur. Her Facebook post said she was looking for "someone who is willing to kill someone who is wearing fur" and would pay more than $800, per Cleveland.com. "Do not wear anything that even looks even remotely like fur," she cautioned an undercover officer, police said. The charges were dismissed after prosecutors decided Lowell was incompetent to stand trial. In the attack Wednesday, her bond is set at $1 million. (Macy's has canceled fur.)
