Nikki Haley is making the rounds plugging a new book, and on Tuesday she delivered a robust defense of President Trump on the Today show, reports Politico. "I talked to him multiple times, and when I had issues, he always heard me out,” said the former ambassador to the UN. "I never had any concern on whether he could handle the job ever." When host Savannah Guthrie asked about the president's truthfulness, Haley continued the praise. "Yes, in every instance I dealt with him, he was truthful, he listened and he was great to work with." Haley did offer a mild criticism of Trump in regard to the impeachment inquiry, saying "it's never a good practice for us to ask a foreign government to investigate an American."

However, she said nothing on the readout of the call between Trump and Ukraine's president rose to the level of impeachment. "There are no demands on that call," she said. "It is a conversation between two presidents that’s casual in nature." Haley's book, With All Due Respect, previously made waves because Haley writes that former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and former chief of staff John Kelly tried unsuccessfully to enlist her help in undermining some of Trump's initiatives. Didn't happen, says Tillerson. "At no time did I, nor to my direct knowledge did anyone else serving along with me, take any actions to undermine the President,” Tillerson says, per the Washington Post.
