Gender reveals have led to a car fire, a wildfire, even a death in Iowa. Now, per the New York Post, one has apparently spurred a plane crash. National Transportation Safety Board records show that the accident, which happened Sept. 7 in Turkey, Texas, took place after the pilot—IDed by the New York Times as Raj Horan—indicated he was flying at a low altitude in an Air Tractor AT-602 when he proceeded wtih the gender reveal stunt, which involved dumping 350 gallons of pink water (meaning, apparently, that the baby-to-be is a girl).
The Times cites records that indicate Horan was doing the antic "for a friend." Unfortunately, the "airplane 'got too slow'" and "aerodynamically stalled" before hitting the ground and flipping over. Horan's passenger, Jennifer Harrell, was reported to have suffered minor injuries. The plane, which Horan said had "no preimpact mechanical failures or malfunctions," was said to have sustained "substantial" damage. (More gender reveal party stories.)
