Consumers in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania should check their fridges for potentially contaminated poultry products, authorities say. A recall notice has been issued for chicken products from Simmons Prepared Foods Inc. produced from Oct. 21 through Nov. 4 over fears they may have been contaminated with metal, KFOR reports. The affected fresh and frozen chicken products will have the number P-1949, P- 486, or P-5837 in the USDA mark of inspection.

The products include ready-to-cook chicken wings, halal leg quarters, and boneless skinless chicken breasts, reports CNN. Per Simmons, "Institutions that have purchased these products are urged not to serve them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase." Simmons says it takes food safety very seriously and issued the voluntary recall notice after standard testing detected the problem. The USDA has images of the labels of the products involved here.
