'Triathlete' Suspect Flees by Foot, Bike, and Water
Gary Francis Molloy.   (Hernando County Sheriff's Office)

Can't catch this guy—until you can. That might be the lesson after Gary Francis Molloy fled Florida sheriff's deputies last week by biking, running, and swimming, MSN reports. It began when a deputy spotted identified the cyclist in Lane Hill on Oct. 24 as a wanted felony suspect. Per the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, Molloy pedaled off and the deputy followed with active lights and siren. That turned into a foot chase, a struggle, and Molloy running off on foot. The next day, a deputy responding to a suspicious-person call spotted the cyclist, who quickly fled—and was later seen by deputies swimming in the middle of a lake.

When Molloy refused to stop, a sheriff's airboat chased him down and arrested him. The Florida man was later hit with multiple charges including resisting an officer and failure to appear on an earlier charge. Molloy said he should have given up and "made the biggest mistake of his life" by swimming away, the sheriff's office said. Interesting side note: Molloy's earlier charge is "burglary of conveyance," which means staying in a "conveyance"—be it a car, ship, train, what have you—"after permission to remain therein has been withdrawn, with the intent to commit an offense therein," per Florida law. (Meanwhile, a Facebook crime page may have cracked a cold case.)
