Forget making her a powerless vice president—Barack Obama should promise Hillary Clinton the first available Supreme Court slot, James Andrew Miller writes in the Washington Post. This, arguably, would give her supporters a better incentive to stay in the Democratic fold, because Justice Clinton could actually "play a major role in charting the country's future," Miller says.

What's more, Clinton's keen mind and unflagging determination make her a perfect choice to carry the banner of the left in possibly bruising battles against justices Thomas, Scalia, and Alito. And she's unlikely to be Borked: "Senate confirmation would be all but certain," Miller writes, "even putting aside the gains that Democrats are likely to make in November."
