A 3-year-old boy was found on a stranger's porch in Buffalo on Monday morning, more than 1,000 miles from his home in Florida, and the three adults he'd been traveling with, including his parents, are "potentially ... still alive," say Buffalo police—but it doesn't look good. Nicole Merced Plaud, 24, and 31-year-old Miguel Anthony Valentin-Colon, parents of little Noelvin, as well as their friend Dhamyl Mirella Roman-Audiffred, 29, were last seen Saturday near Orlando before they set off with Noelvin on a road trip to Buffalo, where police say they're believed to have arrived Sunday night. A disturbing development doesn't bode well, however: Police say a burned-out vehicle found with the remains of two people in a desolate part of Buffalo Monday is the couple's rental car, though it's not yet clear who the deceased are, the Buffalo News reports.

"I can't stress enough the vehicle was completely incinerated and the contents were nothing but ashes," Capt. Jeffrey Rinaldo says, adding it could take weeks to ID them. The paper has posted surveillance tape near where the car was found: one clips shows a "person of interest" heading into the area; a second shows two people running from the scene, one of them pulling Noelvin along; the other person appears to be holding a gas can. Police sources say two kilos of suspected cocaine were found in a hotel room where Noelvin's parents and the friend had stayed, per the Buffalo News. "We're all devastated," Noelvin's grandfather tells WFTV. Noelvin is now in the custody of Erie County Child Protective Services until his grandparents can claim him, Rinaldo says, per the Democrat & Chronicle. Police ask anyone with info to call 716-847-2255. (More Buffalo stories.)
