Networks Aiming to Rein in RedLasso
CBS, NBC and Fox News have issued a cease-and-desist letter to popular video syndication website RedLasso, claiming copyright infringement.   (RedLasso)

Three of the big networks are trying to get a handle on video syndication website RedLasso, cNet reports. The site records and indexes clips from TV and radio shows, making it easy for bloggers to share and embed them. NBC, CBS and Fox News have issued a cease-and-desist letter ordering the site to stop using their material without permission.

RedLasso had claimed to be on good terms with the broadcasters, but the networks say that definitely isn't the case. Many observers saw the copyright kerfuffle coming. "Now might be a pretty good time to get permission," a tech blogger commented after noting that RedLasso's user numbers had mushroomed from 2 to 24 million between November and April.
