Superstar gymnast Simone Biles is directly addressing the arrest of her brother in a triple-homicide case for the first time. “My heart aches for everyone involved, especially for the victims and their families,” Biles tweeted Monday. The message comes five days after her brother, 24-year-old Tevin Biles-Thomas, was arrested and charged with killing three men at a New Year's Eve party in Cleveland. Biles said she "still having a hard time processing" the news. “There is nothing that I can say that will heal anyone’s pain, but I do want to express my sincere condolences to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy,” she wrote. Her only other apparent reference to the arrest was a tweet days ago saying she was "eating her feelings."

Police in Cleveland say the shooting took place when an "uninvited group" showed up at the home party, setting off an altercation between them and the guests already there. Biles-Thomas, on active duty in the Army, was arrested at Georgia's Fort Stewart on Aug. 29. He and his sister spent much of their childhoods in different homes, per People. Their mother reportedly struggled with addiction, and Biles and her three siblings ended up in foster care. When the future gymnast was 6, she and a sister were adopted by their grandfather and moved to Houston. Biles-Thomas and a sibling were adopted by a great-aunt and grew up in Ohio.
