A retired NFL player and his wife were found dead in their Minnesota home Wednesday, and police are searching for their son. The bodies of Barry and Carol Bennett were found after police received a call about a dead man in a house in Long Prairie, WCCO reports. The sheriff's office called the deaths suspicious and said it's looking for Dylan Bennett, 22, the couple's youngest son. Because officials think he's left the state, the FBI has joined the investigation.

Barry Bennett, 63, played 11 seasons in the NFL as a defensive lineman for the New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets, per the New York Post, ending his career with a single game for the Vikings in 1988. “He never mentioned that he was a NFL player," a family friend said, adding "it’s because he was about the other person, making sure he was bringing out the best in them." Bennett became a high school physical education teacher; he retired from that job a few years ago. "He always made you feel great about yourself," a former student tells the Star Tribune. A neighbor said the couple had four children, then adopted two more. "We couldn’t ask for anything more for neighbors … our friends," the neighbor said. (More double homicide stories.)
