R. Kelly is facing charges in another state: Minnesota's Hennepin County announced Monday that the singer is being charged with soliciting a minor for sex 18 years ago, the Star Tribune reports. Kelly, now 52, is accused of giving a girl under the age of 18 his number when she asked for his autograph during a July 2001 promotional event in downtown Minneapolis. When she called, the county attorney says, she was told to go to a Minneapolis hotel and a member of Kelly's staff allegedly took her to the singer's suite. "After some discussion she was offered $200 to take off her clothes and dance for him," the attorney says. "After accepting the $200 she got naked and they proceeded to dance." He says sexual contact, but not intercourse, occurred.

The girl was also given VIP seating for a concert, he says, adding that "there was some talk" of her visiting Kelly in Chicago, but that never happened. Authorities received the tip through a Chicago tip line. Per Fox 9, the county attorney acknowledged it may be challenging to prosecute the case since the evidence is so old. But "by charging the case, we are at the table," he explained, and should other charges against Kelly be dropped, or should the singer be acquitted, the Minnesota case could proceed. Kelly also faces multiple federal counts in Illinois and New York, plus 10 charges in Cook County, Illinois, per TMZ. (More R. Kelly stories.)
