Warren Campaign Hits 'Woo-hoo' Milestone

Elizabeth Warren's presidential campaign has reached a milestone of 1 million contributions, earning a "double woo-hoo thank-you" for the donor. Warren posted a video on Twitter of her calling the supporter to thank her. Bernie Sanders is Warren's only rival with more donations; he's hit 2 million, reports the New York Times. The two Democratic senators have built their campaigns on grassroots support instead of PACs and big-donor fundraising, per Axios. The number of donations also plays a role in deciding the lineup for the party's debates. Candidates need to have reached 130,000 to qualify for the debate in September, for example, and only eight of them have so far.

The donations are adding up. Warren's campaign said it raised $19.1 million in the second quarter, more than Sanders did. Her campaign manager said Friday that the milestone donation came from "Caitlyn, an ESL teacher from Tennessee," per CNN.
